New Year’s Resolutions in the Bush
After a thrilling, action-packed 2023, the Bellevue Forest Reserve team is ending the year with a high!
A definite highlight for us has been the introduction of a small group of elephants into the reserve. Translocated from the nearby Addo Elephant National Park in August, they settled in beautifully and continue to delight our visitors as they provide an additional dynamic to the already rich game-viewing experience for people seeking game reserves near Gqeberha.
Our giraffe, buffalo, kudu, eland and other fauna had a quick reshuffle of their pecking order as the great pachyderms joined their ranks!
We are thrilled that our grand vision is starting to come together as we strive to expand, connect ancient wild corridors and provide more protected areas for animals to roam and flourish, along with the preservation of the natural vegetation that graces our mountains and valleys. The Eastern Cape has a wealth of biodiversity and our ultimate goal at Bellevue is to realise our full potential with all the wildlife species that once called this land home.
This includes the proposed introduction of another key priority species – the cheetah, as well as free-ranging lions to bring us closer to our dream of a ‘Big Five’ destination. Along with like-minded neighbours, plans are coming along well to enable possible expansion of our boundaries – watch this space for details as they unfold!
Within our hospitality arena, we continue to improve our accommodations and visitor experiences, listening closely to the comments, compliments and suggestions made by our valued guests. New furnishings, improved facilities, exciting additions to the menus, continual training and skilling of our dedicated staff – these are all areas to which we pay meticulous attention. We are thrilled with the recent addition of our new luxury ‘glamping ’tents that have enabled us to host more guests in sumptuous comfort and style.
The year 2024 is shaping up to be the most exciting yet in the history of Bellevue and we are so looking forward to sharing it with YOU. Because the greatest gift you can give yourself and your loved ones in life is time and space to reconnect with nature and all that is authentic, real and health-giving. This is the essence of what we offer in our intimate, hands-on, personally managed reserve.
Our overarching New Year’s resolution is simple – go above and beyond all that we have achieved so far, to ensure that our visitors enjoy the most memorable bush holiday ever.
Wishing you all happiness, prosperity and health as you move into the next year – and we hope to welcome you soon.
